you need to register as 301c non profit tax exempt organiization with the fed govt. You can pay to have a lawyer do it or do it yourself. I did it myself and it is very time consuming and a zillion questions.
i don’t know how you would start a charity but all you can do is type setting up a charity into the search engine and see what it brings up for you. and i want to thank you before hand for this special gift that your going to be giving people who have had there lives turned upside down by this terrible disease. good luck on making this happen and good luck to you in the future. your doing a very brave remarkable thing. bless you.
Hello,
go to http://www.uk.yahoo.com
than type in key words like
start & charity
http://www.home-start.org.uk/
hope that helps.
1. Please don’t do this, because
a) it’s quite an administrative burden, and
b) there are existing charities working in that field already.
2. Existing charities
a) Children with Leukaemia
http://www.leukaemia.org/homepage.htm
b) CLIC Sargent [the merger of CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia In Childhood) and Sargent Cancer Care for Children]
http://www.clicsargent.org.uk/Home
3. Choose one of the above, and start a branch of supporters in your area. That is the best option - financially, administratively, and pragmatically.
I wholeheartedly endorse the previous answerer - and setting up charities is part of my job! If you have to ask a question like that on here, you are not ready to start a charity - your energies would be better used in supporting a charity already working in this area. If you have a specific area of the UK or a certain type of condition that you want to support, there is nothing to stop you raising money on that basis and donating it to a national charity with the provision that it is spent in the area you want.
